Women in the ArtsWhy is Galeria Tonantzin a gallery focused on exhibiting the work of contemporary women? Today women continue to be under-represented in the art world of museums and commissions, even though statistics show that the majority of artists practicing in California are women.
With the richness of expression by women artists there are endless opportunities to expose the public to excellence in art. Galeria Tonantzin is the only women focused gallery on California's central coast. Founded in 1992, the gallery is also a location for workshops and dialogs about the nature of the arts and women's role in society. |
