Galeria Tonantzin is Gearing Up for Their 20th Annual Collective Retrospective

Over 27 artists have responded to the call to be in the Collective Retrospective. We will be showing work from each one of these artists as well as having a 20th Annual Collective Retrospective Catalog available for purchase which will include our history, changes and plans for the future as well as stories about the artists that kept Galeria Tonanatzin going. The Anniversary Exhibit will be June 1 through July 29.  Our artist receptions will be on June 9 and July 14 from 5-7 p.m.

Artist Reception:  May 12      5 - 7 p.m.

This exhibit celebrates the Latina artists who have exhibited at Galeria Tonantzin over its 20 year life span as a center for women’s contemporary art and programming in art and humanities. Galeria Tonantzin, directed by women artists Jennifer Colby and Janet Martinez, displays fine art, jewelry and ceramics in the 800 sq. ft. 1850s adobe in San Juan Bautista, a unique historical California Mission town, situated inland from the Monterey Bay on the San Andreas Fault.

We are proud to present the work of the following artistas:  Patricia Rodriguez, Alejandra Oseguera, Pat Zuniga, Helene C'de Baca, Rosa M, Carmen León and Carmina Eliason

The artist reception on May 12 will feature Patricia Rodriguez speaking about Latina Art. The artist reception starts at 5 p.m. and Patricia will speak at 6 p.m.  We are happy to welcome our reception sponsors for this reception, the Garlic Festival Foods from Hollister. Stacey will be cooking up some special treats using Garlic Festival Foods.

Garden Gallery: New Exhibit featuring Helene C'de Bac

Kindred Spirits by Helene C'de Baca
A local artist from San Juan Bautista, Helene is inspired by the beauty found in nature which often overwhelms her and is driven by the irresistible urge to capture that beauty and share it with others. As a mostly self-taught artist, she experiments with various mediums.
