The Gallery Is Closing
We are so sorry to tell everyone that we have lost our lease and our beloved gallery is being closed. We have enjoyed over 17 years in the 1850 Vache Adobe on Third Street featuring women's contemporary art. We will be out by January 21, 2013. However, we plan on going out with song, poetry and celebration of art with a Flor y Canto on Saturday, January 12 starting at 3 p.m. and going to 7 p.m. We have asked Graciela Nutter to coordinate this event and as soon as we have the names of entertainers, we will post them here. We ask for potluck dishes for sharing. By then we hope to have most of the artwork returned to our artists or better yet sold. We will have artwork that will be auctioned off as well as other surprises.
Galeria Tonantzin will launch its virtual gallery early in 2013. We also plan on curating exhibits that will be featured in other galleries.

Galeria Tonantzin Presents the 21st annual Images of the Virgin Exhibit

Lost Icon #2 by Doro Hofmann
Our 21st annual exhibition of contemporary representations for the Virgin in her many manifestations across time and place includes the ancient goddess Tonantzin, the Virgin of Guadalupe; what she means to the artist. This is an international exhibition with the goal of presenting many artistic visions from various cultural perspectives, both the reverent and the provocative, exploring contemporary re-examinations of the image of the Virgin.
Our artists' reception is Saturday, December 8 from 5-7 p.m. We will be serving our traditional tamale fiesta celebrating this annual exhibition.
